The Assessment Appeals Board (AAB) conducts hearings on property assessment appeals pursuant to Section 1620 of the Revenue & Taxation Code. Acting on the basis of relevant evidence submitted at the hearing, it is their role to make a fair, impartial decision on all property assessment disputes appealed between the taxpayers and the Assessor.
Meetings Meeting are held the second Wednesday of each month at 1 p.m. (exception: July meets the third Monday, August generally does not meet). Meetings are held in the Board of Supervisors Chamber located at 825 Fifth Street in Eureka.
Members There are three members and two alternates that sit on the AAB, each serving three year terms.
A minimum of five years of professional experience in California as a certified public accountant or public accountant, licensed real estate broker, attorney and property appraiser accredited by a nationally recognized professional organization; or a person whom nominating member of Board of Supervisors has reason to believe is possessed of competent knowledge of property appraisal and taxation.
