InstagramThe Willow Creek Fire Safe Council (WCFSC) began in 2002 with a small group of residents committed to improving community fire preparedness. This group grew and in 2008 the WCFSC became incorporated as a Non-Profit 501(c)(3).
Mission Statement:
The mission of the WCFSC is to reduce wildfire risk and increase survivability by implementing fuels reduction projects and encouraging residents of the greater Willow Creek area to make their homes, neighborhoods and community fire safe.
Projects of the WCFSC include:- Chipper Days to help clear brush from around homes.
- Blue Dot Program, which makes water sources available for fire protection more apparent to firefighters.
- Adopt-a-Highway to keep the first mile of Hwy 96 clean.
- Community Firewise Fair and Youth Ecology Day in May.
- Participating in Willow Creek Bigfoot Daze celebration in July.
- Maintaining Willow Creek’s Firewise Community certification.
- Coordinating with local partners to bring fuel reduction programs and funding to the area.
- Working with both Trinity and Humboldt counties to update Community Wildfire Protection Plans.
Join the WCFSC by becoming a member and/or subscribing to receive an invitation to our monthly board meetings.
