Purpose
Welfare-to-Work is a program within CalWORKs that assists families in becoming self-sufficient through employment. Eligible adults receiving CalWORKs financial assistance obtain guidance for creating a plan to develop opportunities based on their unique skills. CalWORKs incorporates local employers, not-for-profit agencies and education/training resources.
Services
Typical services include appraisal, assistance with mental health, substance abuse and domestic violence services, job preparation, job search, work experience, on-the-job training, and vocational training.
Financial assistance with child care, transportation, and work-related expenses is available to participants in Welfare-to-Work activities.
Requirements
CalWORKs Welfare-to-Work participants are eligible to receive employment assistance while receiving CalWORKs financial assistance.
