Today, a Humboldt County jury convicted 48-year-old Kristopher Andrew Sloan of McKinleyville for DUI.  The Honorable Judge John T. Feeney sentenced Sloan to serve 10 days in jail, placed him on a 3-year term of probation, and ordered him to pay $2200 in fines and fees and complete a 9-month first-offender DUI program.

On August 25, 2024, Sloan drove home from a local bar and collided with two parked vehicles in his neighborhood.  He then left his vehicle in the roadway and walked to his home.   A civilian witness called 911 and CHP officers responded to the scene.  Sloan was determined to have a 0.246% blood alcohol concentration – three times over the legal limit—following the collision.

Deputy District Attorney Rebecca A. Buckley-Stein prosecuted the case, with assistance from District Attorney Investigator Gregory Hill.  Sloan was represented by local defense attorney Ehvan Fuentes Schectman.
