As Election Day approaches, the Humboldt County Registrar of Voters understands voters have interest in receiving updates on ballot processing and election results for the March 5, 2024 Presidential Primary Election.
The Humboldt County Office of Elections is committed to ensuring the transparency of the electoral process. As part of this commitment, the Elections Office is reporting a total of 14,700 ballots, out of 83,019 registered Humboldt County voters, have been received and processed as of Friday, March 1.
Election Results Reporting
Election results reporting is anticipated to begin on election night at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5. After the first election night report, additional reports will be made public every hour until all ballots are returned from Humboldt County Vote Centers. It should be noted that some election night updates may not reflect changes in the results.
Following election night, unofficial updates will be released weekly, beginning Thursday, March 7 at 2 p.m., with following updates every Thursday at 2 p.m. until the election is certified.
The election’s canvass period, beginning Thursday, March 7, allows a 30-day window from Election Day to ensure all legal votes are counted accurately. This period includes critical steps like confirming voter eligibility and performance of the manual tally of one percent of all precincts. Certification procedures include verifying each mail-in ballot's signature, processing provisional and conditional ballots and accommodating late-arriving ballots, which can be accepted up to Tuesday, March 12 if postmarked by Election Day.
The Office of Elections maintains its commitment to transparency and accuracy and aims to complete the certification of this election by Thursday, Apr. 4.
