Important Recall Election Update for City of Blue Lake Voters

Elections News and Results Posted on December 14, 2025

The Humboldt County Office of Elections will mail supplemental recall information to all City of Blue Lake voters on Monday, Dec. 15.

The Blue Lake Special Municipal Election ballot asks voters whether Blue Lake City Council Member Elise G. Scafani should be recalled, which means removed from office.

When a recall election occurs, California law requires that voters receive a “Statement of Reasons for the Recall” from the proponents and, if provided, a response from the elected official. The supplemental notice being sent to Blue Lake voters makes sure voters receive this information before Election Day on Jan. 6, 2026.

The notice is informational only and does not replace the ballot or change the details of this election. The recall election will continue to take place on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026.

Ballots previously issued remain valid. Voters who have already received or returned their ballot do not need to take any additional action and may continue to return ballots according to the instructions provided with their voting materials.

City of Blue Lake voters continue to have the option to cast their ballots for this election by mail, via drop box or in person. Specific locations and hours of operation for ballot drop boxes and voting locations are posted on the county’s website.

City of Blue Lake voters who have questions about the supplemental recall information may contact the Humboldt County Office of Elections by email at humboldt_elections@co.humboldt.ca.us or call 707-445-7481.

Voters seeking more detailed information about the Blue Lake Special Municipal Election are encouraged to call the City of Blue Lake at 707-668-5655.
