Books with holds have a checkout period of 2 weeks

Renewals

Items can be renewed in-person at any branch, through your online library account, or over the phone. Most items can be renewed up to 2 times, unless another patron has placed a hold on the item.

Holds

A hold is a request for a library item to be set aside for you when it becomes available. Patrons in good standing may place holds on most library materials.

  • Holds can be placed online through the catalog, by phone, or in person at the library.
  • Patrons may place up to 4 holds at one time.
  • When the item is ready for pickup, patrons are notified.
  • The item will be held for 7 business days for pickup.
  • Holds must be checked out on the library card used to place the request.

Returns

Most library items may be returned to any branch, regardless of where they were checked out. Exceptions include Zip Books, interlibrary loan (ILL) materials, and special items that have their own return policies, (e.g., telescopes).

Overdue Items

No late fees are charged for overdue items. Please return or renew your items promptly so other patrons can access them and your borrowing privileges remain in good standing.

Damaged Items

If an item is returned damaged, library staff will determine whether it can be repaired. If repair is possible, there is no charge. Please do not attempt to repair library materials yourself, as this may cause additional damage.

Lost or Damaged Beyond Repair Items

If an item is lost, stolen, or too damaged to repair, the borrower will be charged:

  • The replacement cost of the item, plus
  • A $5 processing fee

Patron replacements for library materials are generally not accepted. Exceptions may be made if the replacement is the exact same edition with the same ISBN as the original item. A $5 processing fee applies. Replacement items must be in like-new condition and free of labels or markings.

Lost materials with a value of $15 or more that are returned after the item is paid for, with a receipt, and within 3 months of payment may qualify for a refund. Refunds are issued by the county and may take some time to process.
