The Office of the Auditor-Controller is a central service department providing a broad range of accounting and financial support to the operations of Humboldt County departments, special districts, and other partnering agencies. The Auditor-Controller is an elected official who performs duties under the legal authority prescribed in the California Government Code.
Responsibilities
Accounts for property tax monies
Apportions and distributes to the various entities the property tax monies collected by the Tax Collector
Audits and issues payroll checks
Audits and processes claims for payment
Computes rates for school bonds
Computes the amount of taxes due
Issues receipts for all monies received by the county
Prepares financial reports
Records the financial transactions of the county and other related agencies
